DESIGN PROBLEM

Due in large part to the popular films, Harry Potter merchandise relies on very pictographic content, but Harry Potter was born from literature. The new book design celebrates Harry Potter’s literary origins with typographic engagement, without sacrificing color and iconography. Using a purely typographic treatment to create an illustrative cover proved to be quite a delightful challenge.

DESIGN PROCESS

Harry Potter has enthralled multiple generations with its fantastical stories and films. In an ode to J.K. Rowling’s revolutionary series, this typographic treatment attempts to playfully re-invent the covers of the books that so many of us have known and loved. Intended as special editions, the designs can just as easily fit on a T-shirt, sweatshirt, notebook, iPhone case...you name it! The designs are familiar but novel reminders of a cherished story, wherever they may be placed.
